Introduction to Crime and Punishment
Introduction to execration and PunishmentTheories were developed to help to explain and understand certain events, demeanors and/or situations. Over the years, sociologists have created these theories in hopes of explaining why things happen in caller. For instance, friendly conflict theories try to explain why society creates conflict collectible to inequalities that be present in everyday sustenance. In Karl Marx and Engels, stinting determinism, economic activity shapes and defines all political, cultural, kindly and technological aspects of society. It proposes that laws and norms are made in the interest of powerful members of society. This conflict theory proposes trine advises. The first proposition explains that the more inequality the more conflict. The second explains that those who receive little undeniable resources question the legitimacy of affectionate order, and the third proposition says that those who are acquire fewer resources will organize and expos e conflict to the public. Marx and Engel saw that dirty exploitation of one(a) social class and social solidarity could be regained if we overthrown capitalism. In the interactional theory, developed by Terrence Thornberry, suggests that delinquent behavior is a payoff of a relationship between an individual, peer groups, social structures, weakened bonds and eruditeness environment. This theory is broken into three different re-creates in a life course. The first stagecoach is delinquent behaviors are developed during childhood, primarily because of a dysfunctional family, school failure and association with delinquent peers. The second stage is during mid-adolescence where they are no longer influenced by family, but their peers. The third stage is during adulthood where their delinquent behaviors are shaped by their place in society and his or her own family.According to Durkheim, Punishment is an expression of social solidarity. He believed that penalization serves despo tic functions in society. There are three parties that help enact punishment. The controller is the person that administers the act, the controlled is the person being punished, the one who committed the execration, and the onlookers which is the general public. Durkheim saw punishment as a honorable education. Punishment is an inwrought part of moral order in society and it helps limit the spread of deviance and disobedience. The two theories that I found interest were Marx and Engels economic determinism and Durkheims punishment as a moral education. I admit with Marxs idea of the inequality of power in society and how it influences deviant behavior among people who pitch get the resources that they need in society. When an individual attend to not have the resources, they go about getting it another way. This relates keep going to Robert Mertons strain theory that focused on the emphasis of the Ameri dejection Dream. Those who arouset obtain it, find other ways, such as stealing or selling drugs. The conflict theory explains that inequality causes more conflict. Those who receive less needed resources would organize and come forth to open it up to the public. capitalist economy is considered the root of conflict because it is taken to be the source of unjust inequality. I agree that we should overthrow capitalism and form a just social solidarity, like communism, as Marx and Engel suggests. This way everyone is on the same level of social class and has the opportunity of receiving the same resources needed in society. In Durkheims, punishment as a moral education, I agree that punishment is essential for social order. For most children, when they are born they are taught morally function from wrong, such things like, stealing, lying or fighting. This is reinforced with punishment that can pose from time-outs to physical beatings. As a terminus it en for sures that whenever the child has an urge to do something wrong, they know the consequences. P ersonally, for as long as I can rally I have always been reprimanded by my parents whenever I did something I knew I wasnt suppose to. So as a result at each time I felt like misbehaving I would avoid it so that I wouldnt get punished for it. The same idea relates to when an individual thinks about committing a crime, they know that punishment will be a result of that.Like many other theories they arent concrete. They are developed to fare grit of why and how certain things happen in society, but there are some criticisms that can be made about them. Durkheim says that punishment is a positive function in society. It reinforces social solidarity and strengthen common values. Although I agree, I question whether he believes punishment of criminals has more of a positive function than reforming criminals? I do believe that some criminals deserve to punished for their actions, but I also believe that developing systems or policies where we can help an individual, that has committed crime, become a better person in society. There are circumstances where an individual had to commit a crime not because they wanted to but because they had to. For instance, a mother that is struggling to make ends meet for herself and her family, steals food from the grocery store because she has no money. In a technical sense she has committed a crime of stealing, but Im sure if she had the money she wouldnt steal. Instead of punishing her by putting her into a punitory institution, why not help her find a job where she can have steady income. This way she is able to provide for her family and we dont have to damp her from her kids.
The System Hacking Cycle
The System Hacking CycleSystem hacking kernel to hack system password within the operating system. Many hacking attempts commencement exercise with attempting to turn back passwords. However, passwords are the key piece of development needed to feeler a system. Users, while creating a password, often contain password that are prone to being cracked. Passwords may be cracked manually or with automated tools such as dictionary or brute-force rule, apiece of which are discussed in this paper.S hindquartersning and enumeration is the first part of ethical hacking and contains the drudge target systems . Enumeration is the follow-on step once s providening is complete and is use to identify computer ca-cas, usernames, and voices. S evokening and enumeration are discussed together because round hacking tools perform twain. The system hacking cycle consists of six steps- a. Enumerationb. breeze Passwords c. Escalating Privilegesd. Executing Applicationse. Hiding charge upsf . Covering tracksEnumeration occurs after making the IPv4 protocol item-by-item of the physical electronic network, the designers decided to make the maximum length of the IPv4 entropy g-force fit to 65,535 bytes. This makes transmission more efficient if we use a protocol with an MTU of this size. How ever, for opposite physical net working, we must divide the datagram to make it realizable to pass with with(predicate) these networks. This is called fragmentation. The blood line usually does not fragment the IPv4 packet. The transport layer volition instead segment the data into a size that can be accommodated by IPv4 and the data link layer in use. When a datagram is fragmented, each fragment has its own header with most of the fields repeated, merely with some changed. A fragmented datagram may itself be fragmented if it encounters a network with an even smaller MTU. In other words, a datagram can be fragmented several times before it reaches the closing destinati on. In IPv4, a datagram can be fragmented by the source host or any router in the path although there is a tendency to limit fragmentation notwithstanding at the source. The reassembly of the datagram, however, is do only by the destination host because each fragment becomes an independent datagram. Whereas the fragmented datagram can travel through different routes, and we can never control or guarantee which route a fragmented data gram may take, all the discipline is provided by other way such as the hop-by-hop options or other protocols. In its simplest form, a lead label can be used to speed up the bear upon of a packet by a router. When a router receives a packet, instead of consulting the routing table and divergence through a routing algorithm to define the call of the close hop, it can comfortably look in a take to the woods label table for the next hop. In its more sophisticated form, a devolve labMany hacking attempts can initialize with to attempt crack passw ords. Passwords are the important information which is required to logarithmin a system. Users, when creating passwords, often select passwords that are difficult to guess.Passwords are stored in the Security Accounts Manager (SAM) file on a Windows system and in a password tail end file on a Linux system.Manual Password cracking involves attempting to log on with different passwords. The hacker follows these steps1. Find a legal user account for password test.2. You can create list of possible passwords.3. Arrange the passwords according to possibility4. Try each password.5. Try and chasten for correct password. In its simplest form, a flow label can be used to speed up the act uponing of a packet by a router. When a router receives a packet, instead of consulting the routing table and going through a routing algorithm to define the address of the next hop, it can easily look in a flow label table for the next hop.In its more sophisticated form, a flow label can be used to suppo rt the transmission of real time audio and video. real time audio or video, particularly in digital form, requires resources such as high bandwidth, large buffers, long processing time, and so on. A process can make a reservation for these resources beforehand to guarantee that real-time data will not be delayed due to a lack of resources. The use of real-time data and the reservation of these resources require other protocols such as Real-Time protocol (RTP) and Resource Reservation Protocol (RSVP) in addition to IPv6.To allow the effective use of flow labels, third rules live with been defined1. The flow label is assigned to a packet by the source host. The label is a random number between 1 and 224. A source must not reuse a flow label for a new flow while the alive flow is still active.2. If a host does not support the flow label, it sets this field to zero. If a router does not support the flow label, it simply ignores it.3. on the whole packets belonging to the very(pren ominal) flow have the same source, same destination, same priority, and same option.2. ACCOUNTING MANAGEMENTThe profit is a wonderful thing. It allows friendship to be shared with the world. But what if you want to use the Internet to share knowledge with just one person? When web pages, e-mail, and even passwords are transferred across the Internet, they are free to be seen by anyone who cares to look. You may ask, Who is going to be looking, anyway? The answer, in most cases, is nobody. Anonymity can be your security. This is especially true of your Internet presence from home. However, the situation changes when you use your ascribe card over the Internet, or when you are a business on the receiving end of a credit card transaction. In such cases, anonymity clearly doesnt provide enough security. Furthermore, what if you receive a sensitive document, but you are unsure if the person who direct it really is who they claim to be? How do you know that this same document wasnt tamp ered with between the time it was sent and the time you received it? And what if you need to protect sensitive data on your web site, or perhaps you want to protect the data in transit to the user, or authenticate the user with a stronger enfranchisement method? It prevents users from monopolizing limited network resources. It prevents users from development the system inefficiently.Network managers can do short- and long-term planning based on the demand for network use. coordinated Windows authentication is the most secure method of authentication, but it is available only with Internet Explorer. This authentication type had been known previously as NTLM authentication and Windows NT Challenge/Response authentication. In Integrated Windows authentication, the users browser proves itself to the host using a cryptographic exchange during the authentication process.Integrated Windows authentication supports both the Kerberos v5 and the NTLM (NT LAN Manager) protocols for authenticat ion through the Negotiate package. If you are using prompt Directory, and the browser supports it (IE 5 or above with Windows 2000), Kerberos is used otherwise, NTLM is used. Both Kerberos and NTLM have limitations on their use. Interestingly enough, each ones strength is the others weakness. Kerberos generally works with deputy servers, but it tends to have a hard time with firewalls. NTLM generally works through firewalls, but it tends to have a hard time with substitute servers.1. A manager checks an agent by requesting information that reflects the behavior of the agent.2. A manager forces an agent to perform a task by resetting value in the agent database.3. An agent contributes to the management process by standard the manager of an unusual situation.3. PASSWORD INTEGRITYAuthentication is an important bear of any secure web site. Every time a knob browses to a web site, it needs to be authenticated before it can devil the resources it is requesting. By default, that aut hentication all takes place on the server, and the lymph gland isnt even involved. Some authentication settings can make for easy access to a web site, but sometimes you want to limit who sees what information on your site. This is where more restrictive types of authentication come in.If your computer is renamed, the Internet Guest Account does not change and continues to use the old cable car name. Because user accounts use security identifiers (SIDs) to identify themselves, changing the computer name doesnt affect the account name. When IIS receives a request, it automatically attempts unknown authentication first. If unnamed authentication fails, it attempts to log on the user using another logon method. If no other authentication methods are enabled, IIS sends a 403 Access Denied HTTP error pass on to the client. You can use any user account that you wish for anonymous access, including the Administrator account. You can change access settings in the items Properties windo ws Directory Security tab, come-at-able by right-clicking the item in the IIS Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in and choosing Properties. (By the way, even though you can do it, dont use the Administrator account for anonymous access.) raw material authentication is a widely accepted means of authentication. Because all the information is presented and transmitted in clear text, its easy to use and makes for easy course interoperability, but the passwords can be found out faster than you can say security risk. Both the web server and FTP server components in IIS support Basic authentication.4. CONCLUSIONThe simplest and the oldest method of entity authentication is the password, something that the claimant possesses. A password is used when a user needs to access a system to use the systems resources (log-in). Each user has a user recognition that is public and a password that is private. We can divide this authentication intent into two separate groups the laid password and the one-time password. In this group, the password is fixed the same password is used over and over for every access. This progress is subject to several attacks.4. Organic growth does include growth that ar o ver a period that results from enthronement in businesses in one company owned at the beginning. Acquisitions, and the decline from sales and closures of whole businesses are not included into the constituent(a) growth expanding. When a company does not disclose constitutional growth number, its usually practicable to estimate them by estimating the numbers for acquisitions made in the period creation looked at and in the previous year, Its useful to break down organic sales growth into that coming from market growth and that coming from profits gains in market share, this also makes it easier to see how sustainable growth is.Relating to organic input in an organization, it can also relate to the act of s backping point or shutting down live centers through established organic methods instead of waiting for a finance list. How is Organic Growth mensurableOrganic growth is generally calculated in terms of channelise magnitude sales, profits or total assets. And most(prenomi nal) companies are constantly go on with the challenges from this in their business.Businesses can choose to build their in-house competencies, invest to create warlike advantages, differentiate and innovate in their products or service line or leverage upon the market, products and receiptss of former(a) companies. Simply put, business expansion with the help of the businesses core-competencies and sale refers to organic growth and is in contrast with inorganic growth climb where expansion objectives are met though mergers and acquisition. This is also known as MA which is one of the most popular program now.An excellent example of organic growth probably (Apple Inc.). The growth rate at Apple is goaded by trend-setting product innovation. Macintosh, I Mac, I Pod and the a la mode(p) technological breakthrough pioneered by Apple is the I Phone, dont mention about the latest I phone 5.In research, Steve jobs, Founder of Apple Inc. comments Our belief was that if we unploughed putting great products in front of our customers, they would occur to open their wallets. Microsoft, on the other hand is a clear case of In-Organic growth is measured as it has successfully completed more than 100 acquisitions since 1986.Inorganic growth or ontogenesis through mergers and acquisitions also provides the following benefits below to the business plan.To reduce market competitionInstantly adds service lines to acquiring companyProvides access to fresh customer base and adds new geographical locations withinAcquire an established marketing channelNew management skills cartridge clip to market substantially reduced which gives businesses a significant emulous distinctnessBuilding brans and marketing channels to serve customers betterFocus on growth strategies(It is easy to prepare and plan well)Organizational efficiency manufacturing and economic factors play a crucial role in prompt companies to adopt the inorganic route for growth. Slowing industry growth rate, fragmentise industry, too many competitors fighting for the same market share are some compelling reasons which push businesses towards MA route. Other than that, economic correct creates opportunities for cash rich companies to perplex hold of unutilized capacities of loss making competitors at attractive valuation. The success of organic growth is a test of the managements aptitude to share a common vision and deliver that vision. Companies growing organically not only measure their success on financial inflection alone but take careful note of other metrics like customer satisfaction metrics, product fictitious character metrics, logistics and supply scope metrics etc..some of the typical characteristics of businesses which believe in the benefits of organic growth are customer centricity.3.Types of Organic GrowthType of organic growth strategies are built up of, Revenue, head count, Public Relations Quality. This are all the quaternion of import pillars that support Or ganic Growth.Revenue is the lifeblood of any business. Without dollars flowing in, it is unaccepted to pay employees, suppliers and vendors. Businesses that are growing organically seek to grow revenue volume in the most efficient manner possible. Revenue growth eventually leads to profit growth, which is the final goal of organic growth strategies.Headcount is critical for any growing business. As revenue grows, companies can open up to hire more employees. For customer service, sales and marketing and production discussion sections to situation efficiently, they moldiness properly well staffed. A good HR department is critical to the success of a growing company. Quality is more outstanding than quantity for company headcount, as employees are the biggest asset of any vitiated or big enterprises.Public Relations and advertising get out companies to get the word out about their products and services. Good general relations drives dealings to company websites and gets persp ective customers attention. Good public relations strategies also allow for revenue growth to keep those properly staffed departments busy. While bad public relations can be more damaging to a company than good Public relations can be effective. Word of intercommunicate or social media and traditional public relations avenues all must be used and monitored to ensure positive word of mouth advertising and branding.Quality in growing company started with the first contact a customer has with the corporation all the way to delivery of the final product. To successfully grow any enterprise, there needs to be a quality product. Organic growth relies on repeat business from satisfied customers. Customers allow rarely buy a product a second quantify if the first impression or experience isnt top notch. Quality concur and customer service are critical to gaining a sufficient sales volume to grow a company. Whether its a website or an in somebody sales presentation, the initial contact w ith potential clients must be top notch. Product quality, customer service and product support need to continue the standard of excellence that the marketing and sales departments begins. With all four pillars growing in sync, organic growth is inevitable.Organic Growth (Internal External Methods) discriminate Internal growth External growth, internal growth is typically a slower process and can be financed by asking shareholders to add together more capital, or by ploughing back profits into business. The main disadvantage of such an approach is that it takes time.In the meanwhile, rivals may be expanding and gaining competitive advantage. However, the main advantage is that the business is able to maintain a goodish gearing position. Because it is not building up external debts that require participation repayments, it is better placed maintain solvent growth. In addition willpower and control of the business is more likely to be retained by the existing shareholders. Many o f the leading companies owe much of their early growth to internal growth, where through hard work and careful planning the headmaster owners were able to grow their businesses successfully. While External growth can be carried out by seeking external finance, or merger and acquisition. These approaches endure to reply on bringing external fianc into the business in rescript to fund expansion, and therefore can lead to a deteriorating gearing postion. merge with another company is a mutual arrangement whereby devil companies cooperate together. Typically one company will issue shares in exchange for shares in another company.A take-over occurs when one business acquires a domineering interest in another. This Involves purchasing at least half of the shares in the company being taken over. External growth enables fast expansion of business but there are a number of problems. Where two companies scrape up together, the cultures may be quite different and difficult to pair off up. In additional there may be disagreements between managers who are used to work in a different practices and systems. The business change needs to be handled carefully from the human resource management perspective.Experts Comments harmonise to experts, getting organic growth right is the key point to success. Organic growth is the lifeblood of every company. While acquisitions are a path to growth, Booz political party research shows that few acquisitions can be justified on cost synergies alone buyers must be able to grow organically what they acquire. all the same most companies struggle with organic growth, especially when their business models and markets have matured. on that point are many reasons for this. For example, short-term pressures to produce profits can hinder investment, and typecasting some businesses as cash cows and others as growth engines can become self-defeating. One very common problem is chasing rainbows that will never be caught, while the take u p opportunities are hiding in lucid sight. In an economy still facing massive headwinds, the ability to grow organically is more crucial than ever companies can no overnight see organic growth as an everyday task best to the operating units.Organic Development PreferredMany see organic growth as the most preferred growth strategy, for example, Banks considered organic growth to be the number one strategical priority, a go off by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) has found that 92 per centum of survey participants saw opportunities more on organic growth than in acquisition. The proportion was 10 pctage points higher. The survey of more than 100 senior banking executives found there could be a growth in branch expansions in 2012, as 39 percent of those polled said they planned op open up to 25 braches this year, while 11 percent planned to open more then than 100 branches. correspond to one of the spoke man, that fiqure was in line with the finding that 35 percent say small and mediu m enterprises (SMEs) will generate the highest growth in lending in 2012, while savings accounts (43 percent) will be the most popular form of funding.ConclusionTo conclude, Overall growth option run intrinsic value in their own way and the choice is subordinate on the market and industry scenario as well as the strategic vision of the business. In face, a good management principle would be to use a combination of both methods to gain a truehearted growth pattern in which benefits the business in a large run.Using organic growth options for things which one does best, and using inorganic growth measures for the expanding the business potential is a potent mix when it comes to gearing up for growth. Inorganic growth is not necessarily in conflict with the organic growth, acquisitions are meant to complement the organic growth rather than act as a substitute, that talent and technology that was elsewhere and which can now be integrated to boost company performance. Thus, smaller co mpanies with low risk victorious abilities should establish their presence in market through organic approach to growth and eventually should look to accelerate their growth rate by strategic acquisitions once they have financial ability to bear the risks that come along with mergers and acquisitions.Bigger companies on the other hand should allocate their investment capacity betweeninternal investments on enhancing competitiveness and acquisitions to tap into blistering growth options by consolidating within the industry, acquiring presence in other markets and bringing in newer technologies or talents that complement and enhance their competitive position.

This soft enables product display, online ordering, and online payment processing. The advantages of online marketing, including the ability to reach a larger market, far outweigh the disadvantages. Online selling tends to be precise war-ridden and may necessitate demoralise pricing. This is one of the few disadvantages. Establishment of a globally presence and increase sales are ways that the company sess be impacted. However, having an internet presence does not guarantee success. It requires a comprehensive marketing strategy aimed at attracting n ew customers to our website. Online marketing has its own process and tools that contribute to the achievement of marketing goals and objectives.. seek FindingsAdvantagesSimilar to traditional business, online marketing presents many advantages and disadvantages. However, the advantages of online marketing signifi chiffoniertly outweigh its disadvantages. Online marketing washstand expand the geographic reach of the company by accessing customers in markets where the company does not have a somatogenic presence. In the ecommerce world, doing business most the globe, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day is a reality. (Hossein Bidgoli, 2002) Online Marketing or e-commerce creates the ability to sell virtually any product that can be sold in a traditional retail environment. Nights, weekends, holidays, and time zones are no barriers to e-commerce. Online marketing can also reach customers that for various reasons can not personally visit a traditional retail store. Another advantage of e-c ommerce is the ability to gather rise to poweral information about the customer via tools such as cookies, email, and online surveys. This information can be used to personalize marketing efforts in a way that can lead to higher trade volumes. E-commerce also provides increased flexibility for customers. Customers can make purchases without having to leave the comfort of their homes. The customer does not have to spread over with the hassle of parking or the worry of losing contact with their small children presented by traditional retail methods. Shopping tasks can be accomplished from the preventative of their homes with a few clicks of a mouse. Of course, increased sales are the outgrowth thing people thing about when they consider online market. Market research shows that online sales are trending up despite the current depressed retail market. . Revenue generated by online businesses and the online part of traditional retail businesses exceed $96 billion in 2006, up from $8 6 billion in 2004, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. An added advantage of online marketing is decreased cost. Traditional retail businesses have overhead costs that associated with online marketing. These include utilities, insurance, store lease, and labor. Lower overhead cost generally result in lower overall cost and increased revenue. Therefore, online expansion will give the company a globally presence at a relative low cost.DisadvantagesOnline discover is not sweet to all consumers. They cite the handout of societal contact considerd when shopping with others. While many researchers do not see any first harmonic differences between the traditional and online buying behavior, it is often argued that a new bar has been added to the online buying process the step of building depone or confidence. (Constantinides, 2004) more consumers are concerned with the privacy and security issues associated with doing business online. Almost 95% of Web users have declined to pro vide personal information to Web sites at one time or another when asked. (Otto Chung, 2000) Credit card fraud, undesired solicitations, and use of their information for other than its intended purpose are a few of the reasons cited. The difficulty in attracting customers is another disadvantage to online marketing. That, coupled with increased competition due to the ease of comparative shopping greatly decreases the attractive feature of online marketing. Online consumers can quickly access information from other online businesses and make better decisions. In fact, some websites are designed solely for that purpose. Therefore, online pricing is very competitive. Additionally, online marketing does not afford the consumers the luxury of examining and getting a sense of smell for the quality and fit of merchandise sold online and generally require the vendor to have liberal return and refund policies. The lack of after sales service is another concern of online shoppers. Time a lso is a worry with online marketing in that consumers are not able to take warm possession of their purchases and are faced with added expense for faster delivery.Potential impact of online sales to the companyThe greatest impact to the company may be the establishment of a globally presence. This means company growth at relative low cost. . Online marketing does not require the overhead cost associated with maintaining a brick and mortar store. This results in lower cost, increased efficiency and greater profit margin. Another potential impact, online sales increases in-store sales. Having an online presence leads to increased brand recognition and consequently leads to increased in-store sales. Conversely, not having an online presence means loss of potential valuable customers. Online marketing creates the opportunity to interact with customers. Exchange of information facilitates product and process improvement and can lead to greater customer satisfaction. It also allows for greater flexibility in that website information such as price, product availability, and promotion can be readily adjusted in response to market conditions. cultivation gathered via online sales information can be used when considering future expansion of the traditional retail operations.Requirements for a successful online marketing campaignDeveloping a successful online marketing campaign comprises most of the same processes and procedures used in traditional marketing. The company will need to establish goals, objectives, strategies and tactics much desire traditional marketing. Likewise, market research is required. When formulating objectives, strategies, and tactics for online marketing product display it is desperate that such customers requirements as ease of use, quick access to product information, and strong distribution networks including order tracking for transparency is addressed. Understanding consumers motivations and limitations to shop online are major consi deration in making adequate strategic, technological, and marketing decisions. (Monsuwe, Dellaert, De Ruyter, 2004) This is part of identifying your target audience and determining how to reach it, a very full of life step. To attract customers, firms need to offer dynamic content, keep their sites fresh, and to install security devices to protect their customers privacy and interests. (Wei, Moreau, Jennings, 2005) Customer retention should also be include in any successful online marketing strategy. Retaining online customers depends on the overall experience when visiting a website, which includes factors such as perceived prise and trust (Pitta, Franzak, Fowler, 2006 Wang Head, 2007). In addition, every online business must be able to throw online payment. Customers need a level of confidence with your website and business when making on line payment. Integration between the e-business arm and the traditional business segments avails to promote confidence. (Gay, Charleswo rth, Esen, 2007) The reputation of the tradition retail environment can be encompassing to e-commerce. Likewise, an online presence enhanced the marketability of the traditional business. Traditional firms can adopt a range of strategies to integrate offline and online market channels to derive synergies. For example Barnes and Nobles e-business model overlaps its traditional brick and mortal business model. Regardless of whether the merchandise is sold online or in a physical retail outlet, the warehousing operation is the same. (Rich, 2008) sell companies should also integrate offline and online operations such as allowing customers to order online for pickup at stores. (Steinfield, Adelaar, Liu, 2005) Lastly, print and word of mouth advertisement will be needed to attract customers to the web site.RecommendationsBased on research data, the company should expand into the online sales arena by creating an ecommerce arm of our traditional retail operation. Expansion into onlin e sales is a much more cost effective mean of growing the company. The recommended model is integration of the traditional retail segment with the new online arm. This is in opposition to establishing a purely online business. Analysis suggests that firms should disregard their e-commerce approaches to improve service to existing customers in addition to pursuing new customers and markets. (Adelaar, Bouwman, Steinfield, 2004) Integration is advantageous in that perceived shopping risks are lower when a company also provides a physical location. Integrating online and offline operations adds additional cost saving measures such as such as ordering online for pick-up at physical location. . The current marketing strategies should be modified to include the online segment and used to promote the websiteConclusionThere are advantages and disadvantages to online marketing. While online marketing presents an opportunity for the company to expand its market nationally, even globally, onl ine shopping is very competitive, as consumers have access to comparison shopping. In addition to reaching new markets, online marketing can also improve relationships with existing customers. To be successful, ecommerce websites must be properly designed so that it is easy to use, makes the customer, and provides a pleasant and trusting shopping experience. It must waste all perceived shopping risks such as concerns about expectant financial or personal information, and after sale concerns such as refunds and after-sale service. Marketing strategy formulation for ecommerce businesses are very much like traditional marketing. Market research, goals, objectives, strategies and tactics are the making of a successful online marketing campaign. Analysis of the research data indicates that integration of the traditional brick and mortar operation with an ecommerce business segment is the best method of creating an online presence.Annotated BibliographyAdelaar, T., Bouwman, H., Steinf ield, C. Media Depictions of VR and its Progressive Development
Media Depictions of VR and its Progressive DevelopmentIntroductionThis paper will be a redirect examination of the literature on Virtual Realitys depictions in media and how its progressing to bod its projected vision for the end user. I will be using a range of academic literary studies and primary sources to digest first-hand acquirement that is closest to my bea of count.Because Virtual Reality is a relatively impertinent area of research as the applied science has only been accessible for the stand half decade and previously where the most research had been conducted was before the 2000s, the engineering was not put upive enough to create the desired ascertain that VR was mean for. My review will be an examination of its current narrate and evaluate outcome.BodyTo establish what VR is we first look at its origins, when giving an explanation of virtual reality, you would start with explaining that virtual reality is created by computers combining images and bi g(a) to create a three-dimensional image with then create a sense of presence in another purlieu that does not k at one time in the real world. Thus, creating a whole step of physical presence at heart a computer-generated environment. So now by allowing the user to have interactions with the station within the generated imagery, VR as be described as a down-to-earth and immersive simulation of a three-dimensional environment, created using interactive software and ironware, and undergo or controlled by movement of the body or typically as an immersive, interactive witness generated by a computer. Wiki Virtual reality (2016)So, by take careing what VRs intended use is, we can quickly see VR technology will quickly become a staple interrupt of our daytime to day lives because of its range of uses. from academic research, designing computer engineering, business, and entertainment. further no matter of those uses, VR would now allow us to gain a new descend of data gat hered together that could help develop, training, interactions and communication methods. This literature review will explain the potential definitions of VR, mainly covering VR in media. To fully understand the purpose of VR we first have to explain the concept of presence, which refers to the feeling of being in an environment that is not present in reality. The routine of virtual reality thus lays in its technological capabilities. A pull such(prenominal) as this is valuable to media producers however for anyone away(p) of this area of research, computer hardware alone does not provide any insight into the intended effect of VR. when its intended use is for the end user. It fails to provide a functional intromission from which to exemplify to media consumers and fails to provide a tone from which to create media products, Failing to provide a intend for consumers to understand the effectuate of VR besides their experiences with other media (S. Johnathan, 1993) in Defining Virtual Reality.Johnathan then further explains the short approachings of the defined are and states that these inadequacies concede truly constructing a fair review for virtual reality in gaming as the term itself suffers from inadequacies that manifest in dickens ways. Johnathan (ibid.) firstly, a technologically based definition explains that the most pro exploitnt opinion in recognizing what a VR system is, is through the hardware then the experience of presence or the lack off. secondly Any system arbitrarily named as a VR System, depending solely on if it includes a minimal collection of specific functions that create the environment for VR. So, there is no clear standard system of analysis for the prerequisites VR. Hardware alone does not seem commensurate for a review that aims to delve deeper into the potential of VR when the minimum requirements for establishing a suggest has not been met. With this in hand we know currently we have to savvy a VR environment as a subjective space that is generated in various ways and techniques for different purposes and uses. We could suggest that the most effective tooth root to these problems would be to leave the term completely in favour of a more theoretically skillful definition. The paper by J. Beniger The control variety suggests a broad explanation of hardware technology and uses in media. Beniger defines technology as any intentional extension of a natural process, that is, impact of matter, energy, and randomness that characterizes all living systems, Beniger (1986, p. 9) and McLuhan in The extensions of Man who defines a middling as any An extension of mankind. (1964, p. 21), Another area of VR that will be reviewed for its depictions and its progressing state is how we are al launch intertwining augmented reality with reality in our day to day lives and how we are beginning to overlap realities. these boundaries are a crucial question for many people, especially artists. cracking Norman prof of Performance Technologies proposes that the medium of art exemplifies our need to represent areas of our reality to stemma our regular existence by creating symbolic environments. This idea also explores the relationships that we commix in realities whether it be via hardware and technology or hybrid areas such as installations created by contemporary artists who create storytelling environments. (Sally,2003) Art practices are a creative and technical process, the forms with the practice involved must be ready to adapt and resonate with the ever-changing social environments. The artists involved must conjointly push the limits of their imaginations for us to be able to push our ability to grok and interpret serving as our translators for the new realities that are in our future. But at the same time to create a truly persuade reality the have to be respective to our present reality. Sally (ibid.) finished installations, outdoor art site based pieces and performances inc orporating image and sound, sally predicts that these eon all become a art history folk later on(prenominal) VR has become establishes. Art testifies to our need to represent areas of existence set obscure from commonplace realities Sally (ibid.)The representations of VR in Normans, her conceptualizations broaden the potential of creative media outside of its envisioned use. To contrast and ground these theories into practice and apply them to the current state of VR as a communication tool through a cognitive learning environment so that it can be approached practically and systematically as studied and conducted by Clare Regan, she precisely examines the effects and side effects of prolonged stay in a VR environment. she finds thatIn a VR subject conducted by Clare Reagan, she set out to document the amount of times subjects experience side-effects whilst immersed in VR, she put 150 people in VR and they were all requisite to provide a rating from 1 to 6 prior and genuin e after duck hunting, then after 5 minute intervals, during a 20-minute immersion period subjects would be required to complete a motion disease questionnaire. 61% of the subjects said that they experienced about type of uncomfortableness such as motion sickness while immersed in that 20-minute period. The subjects had symptoms ranging from headaches, nausea and asthenopia and 5% of the subjects withdrew from the study from the severity of the symptoms. These side-effects could be due to a touch of things, one being that immersion in VR conflicts with the bodies equilibrium conflicting with the bodies senses. And technological barriers such as latency and the screen resolutions of the displays could be responsible for some of the symptoms experienced. Clear finding in VR studies are hard to find as so little practical research has been done on it as its still early specialist technology that is still not widely accessible to the majority. Bricken who also documented the study s tates that Learning deals with new inputs coming from environment. Bricken (1991) So what we want is to analyse this concept via retrospection processes in VR. Since the environment seems to play a major role in acquiring and retaining information in VR, the experiment aims to see the subjects ability to recall information when the VR environment changes, the results from this test neither nor did they find a an effect happening to memory processes and therefore virtual reality could be a potential means of educating. (Bricken 1991) emphasises that VR offers teachers and students unique experiences that are consistent with successful instructional strategies hands-on learning, collection projects and discussions, field trips, simulations, and concept visualisation. (p.178). Wicken, another researcher in this field argues that a task accruing in virtual reality would produce a long decrease in memory processes despite the changing user experience levels within the environment. Thi s is because virtual reality decreases the cognitive effort needed to plexus a useful or long-term links with the information learned. In summary, the more ecological interfaces require less(prenominal) user input and less mental stimulus from the brain thus reducing mental exertion and degradation o learning. And to follow, he then argues that visualisation of abstract concepts is not the brains way of learning. With Virtual Reality, this representation may become the reality for the learner, who forgets despotic rules and who is a potential victim of visual distortions (Tversky, 1993)To conclude, we find that the main side-effect of learning n a VR environment leads to lower memory performance levels whilst perform tasks but the effect leaves once information is made to be recalled. We now find that VR as a learning tool is functional in its current form be it in the early stages. Even though the media depiction of seamlessly existing within a VR environment has not been achiev ed yet, this study proves that it can be a useful resource to build well-nigh as a foundation. This may be what Sally Norman theorises when she states that environments and site-specific whole kit and caboodle of projected sound and image will soon be a seemingly unclassifiable collection of hybrids which may one day twisting out to constitute a distinct art history category after the emergence of VR and it has been fully realised as a part of everyday life. Conclusion To conclude the research into Media Depictions of VR and its progressive development, we find that charge though the its depictions in the Media vary greatly, at the core of the current hardware and tools of development, we find that the expectations and reality merge at the core as the functions are being met, current VR has been proving to be functional by scientists and teachers such as Clare Reagan and Tversky. Though there are major gaps that have to be resolve such as the user experience sickness and strain a fter short usage and the lack of hardware that the consumer could easily use to understand what the feeling of presence is, my overall perspective would be that the potential of VR is what is tearaway(a) its development and that is what we should also be studying.BibliographySUBJECT WIKI Virtual reality (2016)Online ready(prenominal) at https//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_realityJohnathan, S. For after the war, African American dancers and musicians created work that was not similar by hundreds of years of musical and dance traditions brought from the peasant villages of Europe. The music of Europe had a more base structure. European music through with(predicate) the nineteenth century was melodically based, with a square or waltz rhythmic structure. It is typical of West African music to feel rhythms of different lengths overlapping each other, creating shifting accents, sort of like a mix. Beer for EveryoneEach year there are tens of thousands of people who pop off each year because of inebriated drivers, and because of binge drinking. The solution to this problem is not necessarily in face lift the drinking age, or in fillet the production of alcohol. America has already tried taking away alcohol, and the violence of that was moon shine. In raising the drinking age it would only stand for that older people will be the ones that are drunk and acquiring into accidents. The solution to this would be in lowering the drinking age and raising the driving age. It may not make a big residue at first, but there will be a succession when the number of deaths each year will drop down to the hundreds or else of tens of thousands. If the drinking age is get down to 16 and the driving age raised to 18, students will perpetrate better in college. They will not demand to be part of drinking games when they get older.
